Zinc Countertop Questions

How much does it cost: Please see our Pricing page.

How does it wear: Zinc is a soft metal that reacts to its environment. Therefore, small dents are normal and it will form a mottled appearance as it reacts with water, fingerprints and other substances.

What color should I expect: Zinc comes from the mill as a silver color similar to stainless steel. As it reacts you will see a range of colors from white to charcoal. The general color you end up with is a soft, pewter-like gray that is ever changing. We ship our countertops with a non-directional matte finish that allows the reaction to occur more evenly.

How do I clean it: Generally, clean it as you would any other countertop with a soft rag or sponge and mild dish soap. You can polish it with a metal polish if it forms a pattern or spot that is unwanted, but we recommend letting it age naturally.

Do you do commercial bar tops: Yes, and we have a number throughout the country. Please see our Where to See Our Work page. If you send us your plans and due date, we can make sure to help you open on time. Call 888.530.7630, fax 707-762-5530 or e-mail: sales@zinccountertops.net.

Can you make the subtops: Yes we can make the subtops based on measurements you provide. We do not go onsite nor do we install. If you are in Northern California, we recommend that you supply the subtops to us. If you are outside of our area, we can fabricate the subtops and ship the completed countertops to you. The measurements provided need to be exact and square. We will only be responsible for matching the measurements provided.

Can you make table tops: Yes and those can be made in our shop and shipped to you.

Can you make it seamless: That depends on a few factors. If the countertop is longer than 10 feet or has an L-shape (or similar), it will need to have a seam in the top. We have two different seam techniques depending on the application. Please see the Design Tips page.

How do you ship: We pack our products in wooden crates for protection and ship via common carrier with insurance.
